Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-04
Summary
Freeup is built to work on your device. We do not ask for your name or email, we do not sell or share your personal data, and the files you create stay on your iPhone unless you choose to share them.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Onat Cipli, trading as App House, Izmir, Türkiye. This page covers Freeup. The policy covering every App House app is at https://apphouse.co/privacy/. Where the two differ for this app, this page governs.
Data we collect
- Anonymous identifier: the app creates a random, anonymous user ID (via Firebase Authentication) so purchases and support requests can be matched to an install. It is not linked to your identity.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features are used, app version, device model, language, country, and coarse events like "onboarding completed". Collected through Firebase Analytics and used only to improve the app.
- Crash reports: technical information about crashes (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Purchase state: whether a subscription is active, managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
We do not collect your contacts, call logs, precise location, or health data.
Data that stays on your device
- Sizes, dates and thumbnails of your photos and videos, read from your photo library while the app is open to measure what is using space (never uploaded, never copied out of the library)
- A list of photos you chose to keep, and a log of how much space you freed (stored locally; deleted when you delete data in Settings or uninstall)
- Compressed copies of videos you asked to compress, saved into your own photo library
Freeup has no server of its own. Your content is never uploaded to us, and there is no copy of it we could hand over, lose, or be compelled to disclose.
Permissions
- Photos (full access): to measure every photo and video, show you what can go, and — only after you confirm each time — move items to Recently Deleted or save a compressed copy. Requested only when you use that feature, and you can withdraw it in iOS Settings at any time.
Why we are allowed to process it (EEA and UK)
- Contract: delivering the app and the purchases you make.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the app stable and understanding, in aggregate, which features are used. You can object at any time using the contact below.
- Legal obligation: keeping tax and transaction records.
Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication, analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration (privacy policy)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (privacy policy)
- Apple — App Store payments and receipts (privacy policy)
Advertising and tracking
There are none. Freeup shows no ads, contains no advertising or attribution SDKs, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. It therefore never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. We never have.
How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Everything the app stores on your device | until you delete it in the app or uninstall |
| Anonymous analytics events | 14 months (Firebase default), then aggregated |
| Crash reports | 90 days |
| Purchase and subscription records | as long as the subscription is active, then as tax law requires |
| Support emails | 24 months |
You can erase everything the app stores, including the anonymous identifier, from Settings → Delete all data inside the app. Uninstalling removes local data.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it, and you can object to analytics.
- EEA and UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither — without being treated differently for asking.
- Türkiye (KVKK): the rights set out in Article 11.
Email [email protected] with "Privacy Request" in the subject. We reply within 30 days. Because the app has no account, we may ask for the anonymous user ID from Settings so we can find the right records.
International transfers
Our processors, listed above, may handle data outside your country. Where that involves the EEA or UK, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS, and what stays on your device is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. Access to analytics and purchase dashboards is limited and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
If something goes wrong
If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority and affected users without undue delay, and describe what happened and what to do.
Automated decisions
We do not profile you and make no automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Children
Freeup is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and UK, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided data, write to us and we will delete it promptly.
This website
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date above changes and the app points to the new version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
