Common questions
Is the app free? What does Pro add?
Scanning your library is free, always, and you can free up to 500 MB by deleting without paying. Pro removes the limit and unlocks video compression. It is a weekly or annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase, billed by Apple. There is no free trial: the price shown is the price you pay.
Restore a purchase on a new device
Open the app → Settings → Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. Pro follows the Apple ID, not the device.
Cancel the subscription
iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Freeup → Cancel. Deleting the app does not cancel. You keep Pro until the paid period ends.
I deleted photos but my free space did not change
iOS keeps deleted photos and videos in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days, and the space only comes back when that album is emptied. Freeup shows how much is still held there and walks you through it: Photos app → Albums → Recently Deleted → Select → Delete All.
Can I get something back after deleting?
Yes, for 30 days. Nothing Freeup deletes is permanent until Recently Deleted is emptied: open the Photos app → Albums → Recently Deleted, select the item and tap Recover.
Photos permission: why "full access", and what if I denied it?
Freeup needs full access to measure every photo and video and, only after you confirm each time, to move items to Recently Deleted or save a compressed copy. With Limited access it can only see the items you picked, so the numbers would be wrong. To change it: iPhone Settings → Apps → Freeup → Photos → Full Access. Nothing is uploaded: everything happens on your iPhone.
Does it clean "system" or "other" storage?
No, and no app can: iOS does not expose that storage to apps. Freeup works only with your photos and videos.
Delete my data
In the app: Settings → Delete all data. This removes everything the app stored on the device (the scan cache, your keep list, the freed-space log) and the anonymous identifier. Your photos are untouched. Uninstalling the app does the same for local data.
